Build a foundation of trust through a step-by-step process for you and your horse. The key is defining and refining the way that you handle PRESSURE. Your role is learning to respond to even the most intense pressure by being in the moment instead of responding to something from the past.
Your work in the round pen will allow you to learn these differences:
*between AlphA and TyranT Mindset
*between avoiding and embracing pressure
*between ignoring and developing your mental tools
As you work with the horse in the round pen, your mental tools will become an engrained part of every aspect of your barn time, your groundwork, your ride.
Activities are based on the "four missing pieces" that you'll learn in your first session. They include:
Coiling the Lariat -The Picture
Finding the Middle - The Picture
The Rope Halter - The Mental Tools
Movement - The Mental Tools
Pushing the Limit - The Negative/Positive Poles
Mindset Journal - Muscle Memory
We believe in a collaborative approach to this work; in fact, Bruce doesn't work with a horse unless he also works with the owner or trainer so that you're set up for success from the beginning. The most important part of your journey is taking the first step, so we always start with new clients by scheduling an Intro Call. You’ll learn about Natural Humanship™, AlphA mindset and the four missing pieces. We'll make decisions together about all of the options for moving forward to best help you and your horse.

Betty Tetterton, Trainer
The initial work with horses begins with the understanding of AlphA Mindset through the four
missing pieces.
The Intro Course is offered online or may be completed on location with your own horse or at the farm with one of our horses.
Contact us to find out about upcoming cohorts for the Online Course or set up your own individualized training program.
The keystones of the Harmonic Movement Level are Movement, Direction, Rhythm and Track. Once you understand the movement activity, you can move on to juggling different pictures using the rest of these four components.
Once there is a level of understanding with these four things, you'll move into asking for inside and outside turns, creating a "dance of feel" with your horse.
Moving into the Bridgework reinforces
AlphA Mindset by implementing the following:
Pressure to Communicate instead of
Pressure to Intimidate
The focus of this level of work is using the lariat and other tools to test the different parts of the body. You'll learn how "keeping still" or moving isn't exactly what you'd like, but instead you'll become more definite about your "picture."
Moving into the Stickwork reinforces
AlphA Mindset by implementing the following:
Asking Hand versus Consequence Hand
The focus of this level of work is using the "Happy stick", flag stick and other tools to test the different parts of the body and ask for specific movements to prepare for mounted work. This level also allows you to work toward handling the pressure of loading into the trailer or other steps for horses with loading trauma.
Our three/four day Intensives are a great way to focus on a particular stage of the work. Taking the time to learn the mindset and then spend time building muscle memory will help engrain AlphA into your daily life.
Sessions may be scheduled for half-day or full-day and could be at our farm or on-site in your location. We can provide recommendations for local B&Bs or hotels in Camden and arrange options for further activities in the area should you choose to extend your stay.
We offer virtual sessions for anyone who would like to receive feedback on horse training or personal development. Sessions may be arranged as personal calls or zoom calls as needed.
We recommend virtual sessions for clients who have participated in our prior coursework, but we can tailor programs to meet your needs.
Contact Bruce or Julianne to schedule a time at least three days in advance to ensure availability.
